HUMAN RIGHTS VIEW OF SOCIAL NETWORKS~
The recent manifestation of social networking sites like Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and LinkedIn has changed the meaning of our connections with others. This course will explore how social networks are shaped and how their purpose changes over time. We will discuss the subject of how do social networking sites influence human rights? Do social networks promote or limit individual freedom? We will examine the role of social networks through some case studies, such as the presidential campaign (Obama 2012), revolutions (Arab Spring), etc. Students are expected to participate in the discussions, propose a model of their own social network, and present their observations at the end of the semester.
